However, resilience does not require businesses to bring every activity closer to home. Widespread supply-chain relocalisation could reduce global trade by more than 18% and global real GDP by over 5%, without consistently improving stability.
A better approach is to create a flexible network that can adapt when the original transport plan is no longer workable.

Many logistics teams already receive shipment updates. The more important question is whether those updates arrive early enough to influence the outcome.
